Bangladesh Hockey Federation on Wednesday strengthened their relationship with Green Delta Insurance by signing a three-year long Memorandum of Understanding while the company will provide them Tk 1 crore as sponsor for different domestic leagues.
Under the deal, the company will provide Tk 33 lakh per year as the title sponsor of different league – premier division, first division and second division.
Green Delta Insurance, who have been associated with the development of country’s hockey since 1985, also agreed to bring the national team players under their insurance policy.
The company would provide maximum Tk 3 lakh to each player if they suffer any serious injury during their duty with the national team.
Hockey Federation president Air Chief Marshal Abu Esrar, who signed the MOU for the federation, believed the new deal would built a strong the relationship with the company, which had been assisting the country’s hockey for the last 33 years.
‘It has been a long relationship between us and we are going to extend it,’ said Esrar during the MOU signing ceremony at the Bangladesh Olympic Association building.
‘We are going to bring the players under the insurance policy with the help of the company and we believe that it would help them to play without any tension.’
Nasir Chowdhury, founding managing director and advisor of Green Delta, believed that hockey was in his blood.
‘I feel proud to be a part of hockey. Once in 1985, Sadeque Bhai [Abdus Sadeque, general secretary of the federation] approached me to sponsor hockey and since then Green Delta Insurance have been associated with country’s hockey,’ he said.
The federation also handed over trophies to last edition’s Premier Division Hockey League champions Dhaka Mariner Young’s Club and runners-up Usha Krira Chakra respectively.
