The slump prevailing in the local audio industry is continuing and Velentine’s Day celebration is no exception to it.
About 40 mixed albums have been released on the occasion while the number used to be more than 100 before 2012.
Most of the singers are releasing songs online.
‘People are no longer buying CDs. They prefer to listen to online songs. So singers are reluctant to release songs in physical albums,’ said Famdia Nabi.
Fahmida Nabi is releasing a duet song with Bappa Majumdar after seven years on Valentine’s Day. Besides, renowned singers like Asif Akbar, Kona and Bappa Majumdar, among others, are releasing songs online on the occasion of Valentine’s Day.
Record label Soundtek has released 7 albums this year. G-series released 67 albums in last year on Valentine’s Day, while the record label has released only 35 albums this year. Laser Vision released 10 full in 2017, while the record label has released only 3 albums this year.
Musician and founder the rock band LRB Ayub Bachchu said, ‘Audio Industry is dead. We need to make serious efforts to revive the local audio industry.’
