6 madrassah students burnt in transformer explosion

Six students of a madrassah, all aged between six and nine years, were badly burnt as a transformer blasted near their madrasah on Haji Osman Gani Road at Alubazar in Dhaka’s Bangshal area on Saturday morning.
Of the injured, condition of 8-year-old Salman is serious as he had inhaling burns with 14 percent burns on his body, said Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit resident medical surgeon Partha Shankar Paul.
Five other students of Alubazar Bara Masjid Mohammadia Islamia Hafizia Madrasah — Abdur Rahman, 9, Md Ashik, 7, Mostakin, 8, Javed, 6, and Sajjad Hossain, 8, were given treatment at the burn unit, he said.
A teacher of the madrasah, Nazrul Islam, at DMCH said an electric transformer adjacent to his madrasah’s second floor exploded at about 8:30am and six of his students were burnt.
