A two-day international conference on computer, communication, chemical, material and electronic engineering, which began on Rajshahi University campus on Thursday, ended on Friday.
Rajshahi university engineering faculty organised the conference to provide science and technology professionals, scientists, engineers, educators, researchers and students from all over the world with a unique opportunity to exchange their scientific ideas, views and thoughts with fellow researchers and participants.
The conference addressed some of the more relevant and state-of-the-art issues in the mentioned fields.
It also aimed to promote entrepreneurship, leadership and research skills of students so that they can contribute more to the economic and technological developments of the country.
RU vice-chancellor Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the event as chief guest with engineering faculty dean Mamun-Ur-Rashid Khandaker in the chair.
Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology VC Rafiqul Alam Beg, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Professor Shelia Shahnaz and Computer Science and Engineering professor Shamim Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
More than 200 teachers, researchers, students and professionals from both home and abroad participated in the conference and presented around 400 papers in different sessions.
Professor Abdus Sobhan said that theoretical knowledge and research cannot be viewed as separate fields in engineering.
He said that for the global development of science and technology in perspective they were trying to establish industry-oriented research labs where students would be able to use their knowledge in practical areas of science and technology.
He expected that the conference would cover areas like energy engineering, signal and image processing, communications and networking, information system, computer and control.
