Today is the 15th anniversary of death of Freedom fighter, politician and advocate Badiul Alam.
He was born in village Fatehnagar under Chandonaish thana to the Sikder family in 1926.
Marking the occasion, `Advocate Badiul Alam Memorial Foundation’ will organise a milad mahfil at Chandonaish.
He completed his undergraduate degree from Calcutta University in 1946 and followed it up with a LLB from Dhaka University.
During the Liberation War in Chittagong, he was the regional president of Awami League and later became the Chittagong south division president of the Socialist Party.
After the Liberation War, he became vice-president of the Lawyer’s Association and in 1981 became the president.
He was briefly a teacher at the Bangabandhu Law Temple. His juniors at chambers have all attained much success including practicing at the Supreme Court and are all senior lawyers.
He was committee members of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, The National Cancer Prevention Society, The Muslim Education Society, Chittagong Society, Potia College Organising Society and spearheaded his entire life the activities of Kodom Mubarak Muslim Orphans Feeding.
He helped set up the Fatehnagar Sharifunessa Nazir Uddin Girls High School, a primary school, a madrasa and a knowledge center library in the native village.
