21 Ekushey Padak recipients named

The government announced the names of 21 eminent citizens to be awarded the prestigious Ekushey Padak for 2018 for their contribution in their respective fields.
The official release from the cultural ministry disclosed the names of the recipients on Thursday.
A Z M Takiullah (posthumous) and Professor Mirza Mazharul Islam received the award for the language movement while Sheikh Sadi Khan, Sujoy Sham, Indra Mohan Rajbanshi, Khurshid Alam and Motiul Haque Khan were awarded for their contributions in music.
The government announced the names of Minu Haque for dance, Humayun Faridi (posthumous) for acting, Nikhil Sen for drama, Kalidas Karmakar for fine arts, and Golam Mostofa for photography.
Ranesh Moitro won the award in journalism and Professor Julekha Haque (posthumous) in research and Mainul Islam in economics while Ilias Kanchan would be given the award for social service.
Syed Manzoorul Islam, Saiful Islam Khan (poet Hayat Saef), Subrata Barua, Robiul Hussain and Khalekdad Chowdhury got the award for language and literature.
Each recipient will be honoured with a gold medal, a certificate and a cheque of Tk 2 lakh.
