The government has allocated Tk 39.63 crore as incentives for small and marginal farmers to boost aus rice production in the next season, said agriculture minister Matia Chowdhury on Wednesday.
‘Some 2,37,182 small and marginal farmers will get Tk 39.64
crore as incentives for aus paddy cultivation on 2,37,182 bighas of land,’ said the minister while briefing reporters over incentives for aush production at her ministry.
Farmers of 64 districts will receive fertilizers and seeds free of cost to produce ‘Ufshi’ variety aus while farmers of 40 districts will get incentives for ‘Narica’ variety Aus production, she added.
Farmer will get five kilograms seeds, 20 kgs urea fertilizers, 10 kgs DAP and 10 kgs MOP each for cultivating per bigha land.
But farmers who will cultivate ‘Narica’ Aus will get additional Tk 500 in cash for irrigation and Tk 500 for weed prevention.
With these incentives, the government has to provide Tk 2, 115 for cultivating per bigha land, said the minister adding that the incentive distribution will start from last week of March and all preparations have already been completed.
Among the farmers who will be brought under incentives net, 202,412 will cultivate Ufshi Aus while 34, 470 will plant Narica Aus.
