Bangladesh has opened a hotline service for its citizens living in the Maldives for any kind of support as the Maldivian government declared a state of emergency there for 15 days.
In a press statement, the Bangladesh Embassy in the Maldives has urged the expatriates and tourists to call the embassy over +9603320859 for any support.
The embassy also urged them to remain cautious, to avoid going outside unless needed and to refrain from attending gatherings such as rallies, meetings and processions.
On Monday, the Maldivian president Abdulla Yameen declared a 15-day state of emergency as the political crisis deepened in the nation amid an increasingly bitter standoff between the president and its supreme court.
