A Bangladeshi cattle trader has been tortured to death by the Indian Border Security Force along Shingnagar frontier of Shibganj upazila Chapainawabganj.
The deceased was identified Shariful Islam, son of late Amzad Ali of village Panditpara of the upazila.
Local people said that Shariful went to the border near pillar No-171 early Saturday to bring cattle from India.
However, BSF members from Daulatpur camp detained him and tortured him inhumanly.
Shariful managed to escape with severe injuries and family members took him to a private clinic in Rajshahi city where doctors referred him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
He died from his injuries at the RMCH on Saturday night, said Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rajpara police station of the Rajshahi city.
He also said the post-mortem examinations of the victim were done at the hospital on Sunday.
