Former Ms Earth International Maksuda Akhter Prioty is going to publish her autobiography titled ‘Priotyr Ayna’ in the month-long Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela.
Prioty, a Bangladeshi-born Irish model and actress, is the first Bangladeshi-origin woman to win several prestigious beauty pageants abroad.
The upcoming book will depict Prioty’s rise to stardom and the challenges she faced along the way. The book will hopefully inspire many young girls to pursue their dreams, said Prioty in an interview with New Age.
‘I am almost done with my book and hope to publish it in the Amar Ekushey Grantha Mela. However, if it does not get published in the book fair I will publish it immediately after the fair,’ said Prioty, who is currently visiting Bangladesh to publish her autobiography. Besides, she also has plans to establish a foundation in the country for raising awareness against sexual abuse of children.
‘The foundation will work to raise awareness against sexual abuse of children. It will also address issues like child labour, struggles of single mothers and elderly care,’ said Prioty.
‘Sexual abuse is a very common phenomenon in our society. I myself was abused when I was four,’ added Prioty, who also showed interest to work for raising awareness of autism.
Children with autism are often misunderstood. Currently most of the organisations working for autistic children are Dhaka based. We need to help the autistic children outside Dhaka also, said Prioty.
Prioty is looking forward to release her biopic. Nearly 60% work of the upcoming biopic is done. ‘We have been making the biopic for some time now. However, we could not finish it because of some legal complexities. We also made some changes in the plot’, said Prioty.
Prioty won the title of Ms. Ireland in 2014. Besides, she also won Miss Universal Royalty and Ms. Earth International pagents. She was covered by the Ondine Magazine in May 2015 as the first Asian-Irish model.
