18 Bangladeshi cos win 21 SAFA awards

Eighteen Bangladeshi companies have won 21 awards in the Best Presented Annual Report Awards-2016 for maintaining transparency and accountability in their organisations’ annual reports.
Thirty-one firms from three other South Asian countries also won awards.
The South Asian Federation of Accountants, a forum of professional accountancy bodies of SAARC, has given 51 awards under 13 categories among the South Asian nations.
The Bangladeshi winners include BRAC Bank, Southeast Bank, United Commercial Bank, Janata Bank, Prime Insurance Co, Green Delta Insurance Co, IDLC Finance, LankaBangla Finance, IPDC Finance, British American Tobacco BD Co, Orion Pharma and Grameenphone.
Suvod Kumar Karn, president of the SAFA, handed over the awards at a ceremony held at Soaltee Crowne Plaza Hotel in Kathmandu of Nepal on Wednesday.
Of the 51 awards, Bangladesh got 21, Sri Lanka 21, Pakistan seven while India won two awards.
Six other Bangladeshi companies got certificate of merit in the SAFA BPA Award.
The firms are Reliance Insurance, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh), Unique Hotel & Resorts, BRAC, Sajida Foundations and Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund.
An Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh delegation led by its president Dewan Nurul Islam participated in the award giving ceremony in Nepal.
