Saif Sporting Club’s hopes of qualifying in the play-off round of the AFC Cup ended with a 1-3 defeat to hosts TC Sports Club in the second-leg match in Male on Tuesday.
Forward Anatolli Vlasichev recorded a hat-trick to help the home side secure a comfortable victory.
TC Sports, the defending runner-up team of the Maldives Premier League, confirmed their play-off round campaign with 4-1 aggregate in the two-leg preliminary round.
They beat Saif 1-0 in the first-leg in Dhaka.
TC Sports took the lead in the 23rd minute when Vlasichev headed home following a corner.
Saif levelled the margin 10 minutes later when Nigerian forward Kingsley Chigozie’s header on a cross of Jamal Bhuiyan found the back of the net.
In the second half, Saif put immense pressure and played all-out football to score more but their all attempt went in vain.
Vlasichev scored two more goals from counter attacks to secure a big win for the hosts.
