Six candidates on Tuesday faced interview for the post of deputy governor of the Bangladesh Bank.
The search committee formed to look for the candidates to appoint deputy governor of the central bank conducted the interview as the deputy governor post would be vacant following end of the tenure of contractual appointment of SK Sur Chowdhury, which expire today (Wednesday).
The search committee led by Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad took the interview of the candidates at the central bank.
A total of 19 candidates applied for the post after the search committee published the advertisement early this month.
The committee selected six candidates including four sitting executive directors of the BB, for the viva-voce from the applications.
The candidates who faced the interview are central bank’s executive directors Ahmed Jamal, Abdur Rahim, Mizanur Rahman Zoarder, Masum Kamal Bhuiyan, recently retired ED Subhankar Saha, and Karmasangsthan Bank former deputy managing director Kazi Alamgir.
After the viva-voce, Kholiquzzaman told reporters that the committee would soon handover the final list of the candidates for the post.
This year, the government will emphasise on trainings and experience on information communication technology for appointment to the post for two years.
In addition, the candidate must have experience of working minimum 25 years including few years at top post at central bank or commercial bank or financial institutions in home or abroad.
Other members of the search committee are BB governor Fazle Kabir, Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies director general KAS Murshid, Agrani Bank chairman Zaid Bakht and Financial Institution Division additional secretary Fazlul Haque.
