Artistes recite poems of ailing poet

Recitation artistes pose behind poet Shahin Reza Russel, who has been suffering from Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy, at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.

Twelve recitation artistes recited poems penned by ailing poet Shahin Reza Russel at a programme held at National Art Gallery auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
Cultural organisations Banglayan and Teerandaz Natyadal organised the programme to felicitate poet Shahin Reza Russel, who has been writing prolifically despite suffering from Becker’s Muscular Dystrophy which is making the poet-who is unable to walk-weaker by the day.
Russel’s poems feature themes like love, patriotism, and degeneration of social values and others.
Artistes recited 20 poems of Russel at the programme named Merudandahinatar Aral Theke after one of Russel’s poems.
Recitation artiste Rashid Kamal commenced the programme reciting Meredandahinatar Aral Theke. Next Hasan Mahadi recited Ekta Thikana Proyojon.
Besides, artistes also recited poems like Tumi Chole Jabar Por, Chhayanari, Phire Eso, Naaf-er Nona Jol Ebong Amar Ostitwa, Surja Uthbei, Hariye Jabo and others at the programme.
