Sunamganj district unit BNP leaders and activists on Saturday placed four-point memorandum to the deputy commissioner’s office demanding immediate steps for draining out flood water from the haor belt ahead of next boro season.
Before submission of the memorandum, they formed a human chain at Traffic Point in the district headquarters to realise their demands.
They urged the authorities concerned to build crop-protecting dykes along the hoar belt following the latest policies.
They also urged the authorities to engage the local farmers rather than ruling party men in the construction works of the dams and dykes.
Adviser to BNP chairperson Fazlul Haque Achhpia, Sunamganj unit BNP president Kalim Uddin Milon, BNP leaders Wafiqur Rahman, Akbar Ali, Nurul Islam, Nur Hossen, among others, spoke at the programme.
