Bangladesh Road Transport Authority filed 65 cases and realised a total of Tk 1.16 lakh in fines for violation of traffic rules in Dhaka and its adjacent areas on Wednesday.
Executive magistrates of BRTA conducted three separate mobile courts against violating traffic rules under Motor Vehicles Ordinance 1983, said a press release issued by the regulatory body.
BRTA executive magistrate Md Munibur Rahman filed 21 cases and realised Tk 47,000 in fines during a mobile court operated at College Gate in the capital.
In Sher-e-Banglanagar, BRTA executive magistrate Md Mazharul Islam conducted a mobile court during which 32 cases were filed and Tk 35,000 were realised in fines.
A third mobile court conducted in Mawa, led by executive magistrate Muhammad Abdur Rahim Shujan, filed 12 cases and realised Tk 34,000 in fines.
The BRTA authorities said that the mobile courts will continue its operations to remove the irregularities in the transport sector of the capital.
