Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Sunday said local think-tank Centre for Policy Dialogue seemed that they wanted to bring down the country by making ‘rubbish’ economic reviews.
‘It seemed that CPD was bringing down Bangladesh,’ he said while making comments on the observation by the research organisation that crony capitalism was flourishing during the last several years and the just concluded year was most scandalous for the scam prone banking sector.
‘That is my comment,’ he said as he was replying to questions from the reporters during a meeting between him and Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the country’s oldest chamber body, at the secretariat in Dhaka.
The minister said the whole report he read in the newspaper was ‘rubbish’.
He said the CPD remained silent when the scam by Hallmark Group and Sonali Bank was detected in 2012.
Muhith said the CPD did not recognise the country’s progress.
