RAB identifies one of Nakhalpara extremists, files case over raid

The members of Rapid Action Battalion on Sunday said they could manage to identify one of the three suspected extremists who died during a raid at Nakhalpara extremist den on Friday.

The suspect was Mesba Uddin, son of Enamul Huq and Tahmina Akhter of Comilla, said a message sent to media by RAB Sunday afternoon.

The message said that the identity could be known by verifying his fingerprint.

Earlier on Saturday night, RAB lodged a case with with Tejgaon Police Station under Anti-Terrorism Act 2009 in connection with the raid.

On Friday, members of the elite force cordoned off the extremist hideout located at a six-storey building  Ruby Villa at 13/1 West Nakhalpara.

At one stage, the extremists opened fire and hurled a grenade targeting the RAB personnel, said Mufti Mahmud Khan, director (Legal and media wing) of RAB, adding that the battalion men also fired back in retaliation.

During the exchange of gunshots, three extremists were killed and two RAB men sustained injuries.
