The Awami League on Saturday rejected possibility of holding dialogue on the issue of election time government before the next general election scheduled in December of the current year.
Obaidul Quader, general secretary of the party, at a press conference at Dhanmandi office of the party president and prime minster Sheikh Hasina, said that the next general election would be held as per constitutional provision.
‘A mini cabinet would be formed, they would supervise the election and the Election Commission would conduct it,’ Quader also the road transport and bridges minister said.
‘The Election-time government would perform only routine works and refrain from taking any major decision and help the EC for holding an inclusive, free, fair and credible election,’ Quader added.
Referring to the claim of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir that the people are frustrated as prime minster Sheikh Hasina did not mentioned holding any dialogue on the election time government in her speech to the nation on Friday, Quader said that there is no possibility of holding any dialogue with BNP before the next general election.
Joint general secretary of the party Mahbubul Alam Hanif, secretaries Habibur Rahman Siraj, Ahmad Hossain, Sujit Roy Nandi, Delwar Hossain, Abdus Sobhan Golap, Biplab Barua and others attended the press conference.
