The rail communications among Chittagong, Dhaka and Sylhet resumed after six hours on Saturday.

Deputy assistant director of Comilla railway station Liakat Ali Majumder said the train communications began aftrer 3:00pm as a salvage train completed operation.

Rail communication remained halted for hours as a DEMU train collided with a truck at Banashua in Comilla Sadar on Saturday morning.

The accident took place as the Comilla-bound DEMU train from Akhaura hit the soil-laden truck around 10:00am when its driver was trying to cross the level crossing, said Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan, the station master of Comilla railway station.

No casualty was reported in the incident.

Following the collision, the train veered off the rail track, said the station master.

A salvage train from Laksam junction reached the spot at noon and work was on to resume the communications, he added.

Azad Rahman, member of ward 7 under Sadar upazila, said the level crossing is unauthorised and the truck driver fled the scene.
