The body of a minor boy who went missing a day before was recovered from a pond at village Gandhadatta in Jakiganj upazila of Sylhet on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Salman Ahmad, 11, son of Rafik Ahmad, resident of village Gandhadatta in the upazila, police said.
Family members said that the boy went missing from his house Wednesday evening.
Locals found his body afloat in a local pond around 5:00pm on Thursday and informed police.
Later, the police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination, said Jakiganj police sub-inspector Imroz Tarek.
‘The victim’s body bore several injury marks suggestive of a murder,’ said the police officer, adding that the reason behind the suspected murder could not be ascertained immediately.
