A two-day reunion programme began at Aparna Charan City Corporation Girls’ High School and College in Chittagong city on Friday.
Chittagong city mayor AJM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the event around 3:30pm on the school premises.
Former students’ council of the school organised the programme in January 12-13 marking the school’s 90th founding anniversary.
After the inauguration, a procession was brought out from the school premises which paraded different roads of the city.
Around 12,000 former students of the institution, including renowned actress Chirtalekha Guha of batch 1982, participated in the procession with old school friends.
Former students’ council convener Professor Jaynab Begun, also a former joint secretary, joint conveners of the council Parveen Mahmud and Basona Hore, member secretary Safia Rahman Satwi, former students Professor Shukla Iftekhar, artiste Shuvra Biswas, Dr Sahana Parvin, Jesmine Bappy, among others, also took part in the procession.
The reunion would conclude on Saturday with a discussion meet, a commemoration session, reception, documentary screening and a cultural show to be held in Enayet Bazar in the evening.
Revolutionary nationalist Pritilata Waddedar once served as head mistress of Aparna Charan City Corporation Girls’ High School and College which was established in 1927.
