Community clinic workers demand nationalisation of their job

Community health care providers of Rajshahi division community clinics held a press conference at a restaurant in Rajshahi city on Friday, demanding nationalisation of their job.
CHCP Rajshahi divisional unit convener Afaz Uddin, in his written statement, said, ‘14,000 families of community health care providers are passing days in misery as they are being deprived of all governmrnt facilities.
He also alleged that the authorities concerned assured them of nationalising their job several times in the past years; but actions in this regard were yet to be taken.
‘We believe that nationalising our job will solve our problems,’ he said.
The demonstrators also announced different programmes to press home their demand.
Their programes include — halting providing reports from Friday till further decision, keeping the community clinics in Rajshahi shut and holding sit-in programmes at the upazila health complexes on January 15 and holding sit-in programmes at civil surgeon offices on January 16.
They also said that they would launch a fast unto death programme in Dhaka if their demands were not meet by January 20.
Among others, CHCP Rajshahi division joint conveners — Ferdous Hossain, Sohel Rana, Shifat Ahmed Khan and Mizanur Rahman, Rajshahi district unit general secretary Mahbubur Rahman Antor, Chapainawabganj district unit general secretary Jahidul Islam, Pabna district unit president Shahabul Islam, general secretary Azam Ali and Bogra district unit president Mahbubur Rahman, addressed the programme.
