Jatiya Press Club hosted a day-long Pitha Utshab, an age-old tradition of Bengalis ‘pithas’, on its premises in the capital on Friday to celebrate the winter season.
Saiful Alam, vice-president of the club, also acting editor of the Daily Jugantor inaugurated the programme at around 10:15am, said a press release.
JPC president Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and general secretary Farida Yasmin welcomed the guests in the morning.
Molla Jalal, member of the managing committee, conducted the programme.
Shahed Chowdhury, joint secretary, Quddus Afrad and Mainul Alam, members of the managing committee were also present. Some 15-20 types of delicious pithas were on display at the stalls.
