Eminent filmmaker Shahidul Haque Khan is going to direct a feature film on war children titled ‘Juddhashishu’.
The maharat (formal announcement) of the film was organised at Hotel Lakeshore in the capital on Thursday.
The upcoming film will be based on Masud Ahmed’s novel Roudrabela O Jhoraphul.
Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith was present as the chief guest at the programme. Novelist and also comptroller and auditor general Masud Ahmed was also present on the occasion. Former secretary of information ministry Syed Margub Murshed presided over the programme.
Juddhashishu will feature the story a war child, who grows up in Sweden after being adopted by a Swedish couple after the liberation war and returns to Bangladesh in search of his biological mother.
The film will star Sohel Rana, Champa, Nadim, Popy, Kawsar Chowdhury and others.
‘The nation failed to meet the needs of the war children. Most of the war children were adopted by foreigners and raised abroad. The film will depict a war child’s root searching journey’, said Shahidul Haque Khan.
‘There have been many films made on the liberation war. However, not many films on war children, who were born after the war, were made. I congratulate the novel’s writer and the upcoming film’s director for taking such an initiative’, said Abul Maal Abdul Muhith.
