Newly appointed general secretary of the Bangladesh Hockey Federation Abdus Sadeque said on Friday that they have chalked up a one-year long plan despite the National Sports Council did not set a time frame for them.
NSC on Thursday declared a 31-member ad-hoc committee more than five months after the elected office bearers ended their tenure on July 30 last year.
Though an ad-hock committee is generally tasked with only holding an election, Sadeque said they were planning for other regular activities also.
‘The positive thing is that finally NSC named an ad-hoc committee,’ Sadeque told New Age. ‘Now our first duty is to hold players’ transfer for next season’s Premier Division Hockey League.
‘As we took the charge today, we will also start work to hold the elections as the NSC directed us to take necessary steps for the elections.’
Sadeque said they will form the league committee within a very short time and the committee will decide the date of players’ transfer.
He added that they preferred to hold the transfer before the Asian Games Qualifying round, scheduled in Oman from March 9-16.
‘I personally want to complete the players’ transfer formalities before the Asian Games Qualification round so that we can start the season just after the qualification round,’ Sadeque said.
A total of 37 players out of 38-member preliminary squad reported to the national team head coach Mahbub Harun on Friday for the Asian Games Qualification round.
Midfielder Sajjad Hossain Mridul didn’t join the camp due to an illness.
