OC, 2 SIs among 12 sued

A case was filed against 12 people, including the officer-in-charge and two sub-inspectors of Nalitabari police station, in Sherpur on Thursday over the death of a youth soon after his release from custody.
Victim’s brother Nintya Nanda Sarker Subrata filed the case with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-2.
The accused include officer-in-charge AKM Fashiur Rahman and sub-inspectors Atiar Rahman and Sumon Miah and Awami League and Juba League leaders and activists.
The court ordered Mymensingh Police Bureau of Investigation to submit the investigation report on February 28.
On October 1, 2017, police detained mason Biswajit Sarker, 22, from Kacharipara of the upazila for possessing hemp.
He fell sick after his release from the police custody the same day and died at Nalitabari upazila hospital in the early hours of the following day.
