The fourth edition of Dhaka Art Summit, one of the largest art events of the country, will feature 10 exhibitions featuring more than 300 artists from 35 countries. Besides, over 120 discussants will participate in 16 panel discussions and 2 symposiums held at the event, which begins from February 2 at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, said organisers at a press conference held at the National Art Gallery of BSA on Thursday.
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy director general Liakat Ali Lucky, BSA fine arts department director Md Moniruzzaman, chairman of Samdani Art Foundation Rajeeb Samdani and director of Samdani Art Foundation Nadia Samdani, among others, were present at the press conference.
The Dhaka Art Summit aims to provide a platform for exhibition of South Asia’s rich art scene, said Rajeeb Samdani.
‘Events like Dhaka Art Summit play an important role in putting Bangladesh on the global art map,’ said Liakat Ali Lucky.
The fourth edition of the summit will be held from February 2–10. This year the event will feature special session on lesser known art history of Sri Lanka, education pavilion, workshops with participants such as Raqs Media Collective, Superflix and Indian photographer Dayanita Singh, among others. Besides, there will be new segments like opening celebration weekend
(February 2–4) and a closing scholars’ weekend (February 8–10).
The summit will be organised by Samdani Art Foundation in partnership with Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy along with the support of ministry of cultural affairs.
