Jui Marma and Srabonti Akhter clinched three gold medals each as Comilla swimmers dominated the pool by grabbing 11 out of 14 gold medals in Chittagong division swimming events on the second day of the inaugural Bangladesh Youth Games on Tuesday.
Jui emerged champions in 100-metre and 50-metre freestyle along with 100-metre backstroke events respectively while Srabonti prevailed in 200-metre freestyle and 50-metre, 100-metre breaststroke events at the Chittagong Club swimming pool.
In boxing, boxers of Rangamati won three gold medals. Rangamati’s Zenin Hasan, Prongadhon Chakma and Orjodeep Chakma won gold medals in the 44, 46 and 56-kg categories respectively at the MA Aziz Gymnastics Stadium.
In Krate, Comilla became champions in three events while Noakhali emerged champions in one event.
Delwar Hossain Imran, Sarwar Hossain and Kamrul Hasan of Comilla won gold medals in the Under-50, Under-55 and Under-60kg categories while Asif Ali of Noakhali clinched gold medal in the Under-50kg category.
In Dhaka division, Tangail became unbeaten champions after defeating Dhaka by 33-17 points in the kabaddi final.
Patuakhali district defeated Jhalokati by 25-13, 25-13 points in the final of volleyball to finish champions of Barisal division.
At Rajshahi, Chapai Nawabganj defeated Jaipurhat district by 30-13 points in the final to become champions in handball.
