Bangladesh Hockey Federation on Monday announced a 38-member preliminary squad for the forthcoming Asian Games Qualification Round, scheduled to be held in Mascot, Oman from March 2-10.
Along with the players, who played for Bangladesh in the 10th Men’s Asia Cup Hockey in Dhaka last year, coach Mahbub Harun also called up 20 young players who represented Bangladesh Under-21 and Under-19 teams recently.
The camp will begin at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on January 13.
Top two teams among 12 participating countries will qualify for the 8th Asian Games, jointly hosted by Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2.
Besides Bangladesh and hosts Oman, eight other nations — Sri Lanka, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Thailand, Myanmar, Iran and Azerbaijan — have already confirmed their participation.
