A 3-day Colours of Life theatre festival organised by Dhaka University Drama Troupe is underway at the Teacher-Student Centre auditorium of the university.
The festival was inaugurated on Sunday by Dhaka University vice chancellor professor Akhtaruzzaman.
On the opening day, Dhaka University Drama Troupe staged its maiden production Kakcharitra. Written by Manoj Mitra and directed by Shubhra Goswami, the play satirises exploitation on the poor in the society.
There was no show on Monday due to some unavoidable reasons, said the organaisers.
Theatre and performance studies department of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University will stage Ami i Tumi today and the festival will conclude through Dhaka University’s theatre and performance studies department’s production Miss Julie tomorrow.
The festival also includes a solo painting exhibition of Dinara Sultan, an amateur artist who teaches at Rajshahi Art College.
DU Drama Troupe president Sanwarul Hauque Sony said they began their journey last year and since then they organaised two big theatre festivals and also staged a show in India last month.
He also said that they would honour a theatre personality from next festival.
