A Pakistani national, who was arrested in Bangladesh in connection with drug and gold smuggling case, fell sick and died in Kashimpur Central Jail early Saturday.
The deceased is identified as Md Harun, 52, resident of Karachi in Pakistan.
The body was sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Prosanto Kumar Bonik, superintendent of Kashimpur Jail-2 said Harun, arrested over a case filed for drug and gold smuggling, fell sick early hours of the day.
Harun was taken to hospital as he felt severe chest pain. Attending doctors pronounced him dead in the hospital, he said.
The authorities were preparing to inform the family members of the deceased through Pakistan embassy in Dhaka.
