The Indian Border Security Force picked up a Bangladesh citizen who also got bullet-wounded by the border guards at Burimari border of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat early Saturday, Border Guard Bangladesh sources said.

The victim was identified as Rezaul Islam, 35, son of Abdul Jalil, a resident of village Islampur under the upazila. He was a cattle trader by profession.

Rangpur BGB battalion-61 director Major Moniruzzaman said they already sent a letter to BSF this morning protesting the incident and called for a flag meeting to bring back Rezaul.

But, BSF denied sitting for the meeting, he added.

BGB sources said a group of cattle traders including Rezaul intruded into Indian territory through Burimari border around 2:30am.

Sensing their presence, a patrol team of Panishala 61-BSF battalion opened fire on them, leaving Rezaul bullet-injured while others managed to flee the scene.

Later, BSF personnel took the injured with them, they added.
