Ruman Sana of Bangladesh Ansar created a new national record in the men’s individual recurve qualification round of the 9th National Archery Championships that got underway at the Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi on Wednesday.
Ruman scored 654 points to beat his own record of 652 points that he made in 2016.
The qualification rounds of the recurve and compound events were held on the opening day where more than 142 participants from 32 different teams had been participating.
Men’s and women’s recurve and compound quarter-finals will be held
today.
In the men’s recurve quarter-finals Ruman will take on Prodipto Chakma while Hakim Ahmed will face Ibrahim Rezwan.
In the other last-eight matches Sheikh Sajib will play Sanowar Hossain while Tamimul Islam will take on Abdullah al Mamun.
In the women’s singles compound quarter-finals, Roksana Akther will face Mahmuda Akhter while Suma Bishwash will take on Bipasha Akhter.
Meanwhile, Bonnya Akhter will face Kaniz Fatema and Sushmita
Banik will take on Sheuli Akhter.
