Seasoned Nazrul singer Rahat Ara Geeti presented popular Nazrul and folk songs at a solo programme held at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on Tuesday.
Apart from presenting songs, Geeti, daughter of late eminent Nazrul singer Sohrab Hossain, also talked about her journey into the music scene at the programme.
Geeti was introduced to music at an early age. She took lessons in Nazrul song from her father. Later, she received further training under the tutelage of Nrayan Chandr Basak, MA Mannan and Sudhin Das, among others.
‘Music has been a constant companion since my childhood days. My father initiated me into the blissful realm of music’, said Geeti, who is now a senior artiste at Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television.
Geeti commenced her solo programme singing a romantic song of Nazrul Kar Nikunje Raat Kataye. Next the singer presented another Nazrul song Swapne Dekhi.
Geeti then presented popular folk songs like Bhalo Koira Bajao Go Dotara and Amar Golar Har.
She later presented Nazrul songs like Jhora phul, Bagichay Bulbuli Tui, Bole Chhile Tumi and Akashe Helan Diye, among others, to the audience’s delight.
