The Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday arrested a deputy director of Department of Narcotics Control when he was taking bribe from a local alcohol trader in Jessore.

An ACC nine-member team led by its ACC director Nasim Anwar arrested the DNC deputy director of its Jessore district office Muhammad Nazmul Kabir from his office, said ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee.

He said that Nazmul demanded a total of Tk 3 lakh from the local alcohol trader Sheikh Mohabbat Ali for renewing his license. But Mohabbat refused to give such amount and then Nazmul demanded Tk 2 lakh, Pranab added.

Later, Mohabbat filed an application in this regard and the commission conducted the drive following its rule, the ACC official said adding that a case also filed with the Jessore Kotwali police.
