Prime minister Sheikh Hasina would visit Vatican to hold a meeting with Pope Francis during her visit to Italy in February.
It will be a return visit at the invitation of the Pope, officials said.
Pope Francis visited Dhaka where he used the word ‘Rohingya’, for the first time during his Bangladesh-Myanmar visit in the last week of November and early December 2017, to refer to religious minorities who fled ethnic cleansing in Rakhine state of Myanmar and entered Bangladesh.
Hasina would be in Italy on a four-day official visit from February 12 to attend annual governing council meeting of Rome-based International Fund for Agricultural Development, a specialised agency of the United Nations.
She is likely to hold bilateral meetings with Italian leaders.
