Amal Roy and Afsana Islam Prity on Saturday clinched men’s and women’s singles titles of the Runner Victory Day Tennis Tournament-2017 respectively at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna.
In the men’s singles event, Amal of Engineers Recreation Centre defeated Daras Bangladesh Limited’s Dipu Lal by 7-6, 7-6 sets while Afsana of Narsingdi Club defeated Eshita Afroze of BKSP by 6-3, 7-5 sets.
Amal also clinched the doubles crown when he paired Ranjan Ram to beat Mamun Bepari and Akhter Hossain 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (10-3) in the doubles finals.
In the women’s doubles event, Afsana and
Safina Luxmi pair
suffered 6-1, 6-1 defeat to Eshita and Jerin Sultana pair of BKSP.
In the Under-16 boy’s singles event, Jewel Rana of Elite Tennis Academy defeated Ishtiak Ahmed of BKSP by 6-4, 6-2 margin.
In the U-16 boy’s doubles event, BKSP pair of Nazmul Islam and Arnob Saha grabbed 6-2, 6-0 margin victory over Mohammad Tamim and Saikat Shahriar.
In the U-14 boy’s singles final, Rakib Hossain of Elite Tennis Academy beat Jubayed Uthso of BKSP by 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 sets.
In the U-12 boy’s singles event, BKSP’s Rummon Hossain claimed 7-2, 2-6 and 7-6 victory against Jobayed Uthsho.
Chairman of the Runner Group, Hafizur Rahman Khan, vice-presidents of the Bangladesh
Tennis Federation, Mohammad Ali Din and Mohammad Selim, and general-secretary, Golam Morshed and tournament director Rokon Uddin Ahmed were among others present in the prize distribution ceremony.
