BCL leaders beat boy tying him to tree

Activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student associate body of the ruling Awami League, beat a schoolboy after tying him to a tree at Aditmari in Lalmonirhat on Wednesday.
Locals said that Ashik Babu, joint general secretary of BCL Mahiskhocha union unit under Aditmari upazila, led his followers as they beat Imdadul Haq, a Class-V student of Mahiskhocha Government Primary School, at a local kitchen market to extract information about a bicycle owned by Ashik.
Ashik and his followers tied Imdadul to a tree and started beating him, they said.
Hearing screams, locals went for his rescue and took him to a nearby hospital.
Aditmari police OC Haleshwar Roy said that they were investigating the incident.
