DU students stage Kakcharitra in India

Dhaka University Drama Troupe staged a show of Kakcharitra, which is also the troupe’s debut production, on the concluding day of a week-long theatre festival titled ‘Anandan Natyamela 2017’ held in Jhargram, India.
The play, written by Manoj Mitra and directed by Shubhra Goswami, had its premiere show at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University on December 9.
Besides Dhaka University Drama Troupe, more than fourteen theatre troupes from different parts of India participated in the festival.
DU Drama Troupe president Sanwarul Hauque said Kakcharitra satirises how the wicked exploits the poor in the society.
Sujon Mia, Moniruzzaman Munna, Newaz Sharifullah, Abdul Baset, Sanjia Shetu, Lipton Islam, Abdul Malek, Jahangir Shawon and Sinthia, among others, acted in the play.
DU Drama Troupe commenced its journey on December 1, 2016. The troupe, through regular workshops and theatre shows, has been working to promote theatre among DU students.
