Sangbrita presents poems on liberation war

Sangbrita Abritti Charcha and Bikash Kendra artistes recite a poem on Saturday at Shawkat Osman auditorium of the Central Public Library.

Sangbrita Abritti Charcha and Bikash Kendra artistes presented 27 poems glorifying liberation war and patriotism on Saturday at Shawkat Osman auditorium of the Central Public Library.

The show, compiled by Tariqul Fahim and directed by AKM Shamsuddoha, featured popular poems on these themes composed by renowned poets like Abul Hasan, Shamsur Rahman, Nirmalendu Goon, Asad Chowdhury and others.

The artistes also recited letters written by the freedom fighters to their beloved ones from the battle fields and news reports highlighting the gallantry of the freedom fighters and atrocities of the Pakistani occupational forces.

The show commenced with a chorus presentation of Salil Chowdhury’s poem Shapath. Subsequently, recitation artistes like AKM Shamsuddauha, Shamsuzzaman Babu, Tariqul Fahim, Saima Islam, Raisa Ilmiat, Jannat Jui and others in their solo presentations recited Abul Hasan’s Uchcharanguli Shokher, excerpts from Nilima Ibrahim’s Ami Birangana Bolchhi, Shamsur Rahman’s Tomake Pabar Jaonyo Hey Swadhinata, Nirmalendu Goon’s Swadhinata Ei Shabdati Kibhabe Amader Holo, Asad Chowdhury’s Barbara Bidlar and other poems.

The show ended with Saima Sharmin’s presentation of Asad Chowdhury’s poem Takhan Sati Manush Chhilam.

Over 500 people enjoyed the show.

Sangbrita Abritti Charcha and Bikash Kendra, a Dhaka University-based cultural organisation, has been holding recitation shows for over a decade.
