Sylhet-based theatre troupe Jiban Sangket will stage its acclaimed liberation war-based play Jyotisanghita at three theatre festivals in West Bengal, India.
The troupe, which is scheduled to visit India from December 15 to December 24, will stage the play at a theatre festival titled ‘Desh Bidesher Natok’ organised by theatre troupe Bahrampur Hrittik in Bahrampur.
Then the troupe will stage the play at festivals titled ‘Rangapith Jatiyo Natyautsab’ by Shantipur Rangapith and ‘5th National Theatre Festival’ by Gabor Danga Naksha, respectively.

Ruma Modak, a senior member of the troupe, told New Age that the play is based on the heroic actions of martyred freedom fighter Bir Bikram Jagat Joity Das, who died in the war on November 16, 1971.
‘We are eagerly looking forward to stage the liberation war-based play in India in December, the month of Victory. We hope that the Indian audience will find our performance entertaining,’ she said.
