Terming Mahbubul Hoque Shakil as a versatile talent, speakers at a commemoration on Thursday said he will be ever memorable for his creative ideas and contribution towards building a prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
‘Shakil, a former special assistant to the prime minister, was a genius leader in all respects and he showed his dynamism in student politics under the banner of Bangladesh Chhatra league,’ they told the commemoration held at Town Hall in Mymensingh, marking his 1st death anniversary.
Shakil Swaron Shava Committee arranged the discussion with Kabir Uddin Bhuiyan, convener of SSSC, in the chair.
Awami League joint-secretary Dipu Moni addressed the meeting as the chief guest while state minister for textile and jute Mirza Azam, AL cultural affairs secretary Asim Kumar Ukil, organising secretary Ahmed Hossain, Muslem Uddin, MP, M Amanullah, MP, AL central leader Marufa Akhter Popy, Shakil’s father Zahirul Haque, Shakil’s wife, chairman of Mymensingh zila parisad Yusuf Khan Pathan and assistant press secretary of prime minister Ashraf Siddique Bitu, spoke, among others.
District AL secretary Moazzem Hossain Babul conducted it.
Mentioning the life and works of Shakil, Dipu Moni said, Shakil contributed a lot to strengthening party and took a vital role for the glorious achievement of the present government.
Mirza Azam said a textile mill will be set up after Shakil at Chorkhai in Sadar upazila in Mymensingh.
Shakil died of a cardiac arrest in the capital on December 6 last year.
