Poet and columnist Farhad Mazhar’s wife Farida Akther on Thursday sought time to a court in Dhaka to file a ‘no confidence petition’ against the report of detective branch of police that found no proof of Mazhar’s abduction as she rejected report.
Advocate Sayed Jaoynal Abedin Mesbaha, representing Farida in the court of Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Khurshid Alam, filed the petition alleging that the investigation was not conducted properly and praying to conduct proper investigation into the incident of ‘abduction of Farhad’.
The court allowed the prayer and adjourned the hearing until January 9 and asked Farida to file and move the ‘no confidence petition’ on the day.
Earlier on November 14, DB inspector Mahbubul Islam, also investigation officer of the Farhad abduction case, submitted the final report to Dhaka chief metropolitan magistrate court mentioning that they did not find any proof of abduction.
The investigator also prayed to begin proceedings against Farhad and Farida as they made false abduction allegation and harassed law enforcing agency and the government.
The court on the day set December 7 for hearing on the report.
On July 3, family members claimed that Farhad Mazhar had been kidnapped by unknown miscreants from Adabar in the capital in the early hours of the day.
Later, police found him in a ‘Hanif Paribahan’ bus around 11:30 pm on the same day while he was returning to Dhaka from Khulna.
Later, his wife filed the case with Adabar Police Station.
