Dhaka Dynamites needed to win the match against Rangpur Riders to confirm their place on the qualifier but their opponents were adamant to give the holders a tough fight, leaving them tottering at 5-48. The sixth wicket partnership between Mehedi Maruf and skipper Sakib al Hasan (47) added 55 runs to give their side a competitive total but Dhaka had spinner Abdur Razzak to thank for dropping a crucial catch along the way. Veteran spinner Razzak had an opportunity to pick Mehedi early after the batsman charged him down the wicket to give a return catch. Mehedi, who was batting for six at that time, went on to score 33 off 23 deliveries by smashing three fours and one huge six. Dhaka finished their innings on 137-7 before their bowlers successfully restricted Rangpur to 94-7 for a crushing 43-run victory. The win helped Dhaka finish the league phase on second position to set-up a clash against Comilla Victorians on December 8 at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
