Former ambassador to Qatar and Vietnam Maroof Zaman went missing after he went out of his residence at Dhanmondi in the capital Monday evening.
Samiha Zaman, daughter of the ambassador, filed a general diary with Dhanmondi Police Station saying that her father left their residence around 6:30pm to pick her up from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, said Dhanmondi police officer-in-charge Mohammad Abdul
Latif.
The OC said that the GD mentioned that he neither reached the airport nor returned home until filing of the GD around Tuesday noon.
The OC said that they were unaware about the whereabouts of the former ambassador until Tuesday 11:00pm.
The family of the ambassador, in a press release, said police, however, recovered his car from Khilkhet in the evening.
It also mentioned that around 7:45 the ambassador contacted with his family over phone to tell that some people would come to take his computer and instructed them to cooperate.
Shortly after that, three tall, well-dressed men came to the house around 8:05pm, took his laptop, home phone’s CPU, his camera and smartphone and searched his room thoroughly, it said.
His phone was found off since then.
