Printmaking exhib underway at Zainul gallery

Printmaking Department of Dhaka University is holding a group exhibition featuring prints done by the students in different mediums at Zainul Gallery 1 and 2 on the university campus.
The department holds the exhibition annually to promote its students. Forty students are participating with 115 artworks in lithography, etching, woodcut, pencil, and other mediums.
The department also awarded nine students with different awards. Sakib Selim has received Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Award, Swapon Kumar won Shilpaguru Safiuddin Ahmed Award and Sanchita Biswas won Artist Mohammod Kibria Memorial Award. Six other students won awards in different other categories.
MFA second part student Sakib Selim’s award-winning etching and aquatint work titled ‘Story of Extinction and Survival’ features four images of skulls and limbs of dogs to create a sense of horror on the minds of the viewers.
His classmate Sanchita Biswas got the award for her lithography work titled ‘Unification’. It shows an isolated female face with black colour on a background resembling a busy urban place.
The exhibition, which began on November 29, will remain open till 8pm today.
