Bangladesh Tennis Federation general secretary Golam Morshed was elected as a member of the Asian Tennis Federation Board of Director for the period of 2017-2019, said a press release on Sunday.
The annual general meeting of the ATF held in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 18-19
in presence of International Tennis Federation president Devid Haggerty.
ITF vice-president Anil Kumar Khanna of India was re-elected as the president of the ATF.
Representatives of 30 countries out of 44 member-associations of the ATF were present on the occasion.
Morshed hoped his election as a director would boost Bangladesh’s relationship with other countries.
‘As a member of the ATF board of directors, I got an easy access to meet with the high-ups of the Asia and world,’ Morshed said.
‘I think it would help us to get more international tournaments in future.
‘Even though the election held last month we were waiting for the formal approval, which we got yesterday [Saturday],’ he said.
