Int’l Day of Persons with Disabilities being observed

International Day of Persons with Disabilities is being observed in the country and elsewhere in the globe aiming to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilise support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.

The theme of the day is ‘Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all’.

The ministry of social welfare and social welfare department chalked up various programmes along with the National Disability Development Foundation, National Disability Forum and different social organisations to observe the day in a befitting manner.

The day’s programmes include holding rally, discussion and function at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, five-day fair at National Disability Development Foundation premises on December 3-7.

President M Abdul Hamid and prime minister Sheikh Hasina issued messages wishing success of all the programmes marking the 19th National Day for Disabled and 26th International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
