A woman and her two children were chopped to death and her husband was injured in an attack over a land-related dispute at village Tarakandi of Pakundia in Kishoreganj Saturday morning.

The victims were identified as Taslima, 28, wife of Mosharraf Hossain, and their son Niloy, 10, and daughter Raisa, 8.

Officer-in-charge of Pakundia police station Shamsuddin said Mosharraf had long been at loggerheads with his cousin Mobin, 26, son of Alam Miah, over the ownership of a piece of land.

Mobin engaged in an altercation with Mosharraf in the morning over the issue.

At one stage, he swooped on Mosharraf and his family members with a sharp weapon around 6:00am and hacked them indiscriminately, leaving Taslima and the children dead on the spot and Mosharraf injured.

Locals caught Mobin, a master’s student of Govt Gurudayal College, while fleeing and took him to the police station, said the OC.

Injured Mosharraf was admitted to Pakundia Upazila Health Complex.

The bodies were sent to Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital for autopsy.
